Professional recognition through the Maritime SAR Endorsement Scheme
The Maritime Search and Rescue Council supported Captain Bob Ide, an experienced Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel (ERRV) Master, through the Maritime Search and Rescue Endorsement Scheme, delivered in partnership with The Nautical Institute. Following a comprehensive assessment of operational experience, professional knowledge and practical competence, Captain Ide successfully achieved the Maritime SAR Commander Endorsement, recognising his ability to command and coordinate complex maritime search and rescue operations in accordance with internationally recognised standards and best practice.
I would recommend, highly, any serving Masters to register their interest and apply to take the Command Endorsement scheme. Those who achieve the endorsement will be recognised by others and, perhaps, all SAR professional bodies, allowing individuals to progress within the SAR field and be able to afford advice to external bodies.
