The Maritime Immediate Emergency Medical Care Course provides SAR personnel with essential medical skills to stabilise casualties during maritime incidents. Focused on immediate care in the critical minutes before advanced medical support arrives, the course is tailored to the realities of SAR operations.
Training covers scene safety, casualty assessment, and lifesaving interventions including airway management, bleeding control, CPR, and treatment of shock, hypothermia, illnesses and trauma. Students learn to confidently use a number of interventions and medical resources and operate effectively in the challenging maritime environment.
Scenario-based exercises replicate real SAR incidents, requiring participants to provide rapid, effective care in confined and unstable conditions. Teamwork, communication, and casualty handover skills are integrated to ensure continuity of care from vessel to shore.
By the end of the course, participants are equipped with the competence and confidence to deliver immediate emergency medical care in maritime SAR settings.
